Check it out ... we finally got the water proof camera developed - although a lot of the shots weren't great - this picture shows Anne on her first ever scuba dive. This was taken whilst we were at Reefworld on the outer Great Barrier Reef.

There are a couple of other pictures in the set on Flickr too ... just click this one to see them all.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The Great Barrier Reef -- Heart Reef

Heart Reef
Originally uploaded by domfells.

Check it out ... the famous Heart Reef, part of the Great Barrier Reef, taken from our orbiting sea plane.

We took a day flying trip, which took us over Hamilton Island, out to the outer reef before landing just off Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands; where we were treated to a champagne picnic and snorkelling. Then back to Hamilton to enjoy the resort before finally flying back to the mainland in the later afternoon.

Brilliant!!

Merry Christmas ... HO HO HO

Hi all,

Just a quick note from us to say how excited we were to meet Santa in Singapore ... the big fella does get around, and the resemblance to Dom is uncanny.

We are currently relaxing in Surfers Paradise, and preparing to fly out to Melbourne tomorrow afternoon. We will be there for a week, enjoying a bar-b-q'd Christmas dinner with Arch & Hels, and then a day at the cricket on Boxing Day. Might have a drink or two as well *;-)

The 27th is Hels' birthday, so we will be forced to go out and celebrate (shame) .... plus we hope to do the Ramsey Street tour, and hopefully meet Toadfish or Joe Mangel!!

I am sure you will all be delighted to know that the weather here is wonderful ... nice and warm & sunny. There's some good surf on the beach, and no fog.

We should have more photos online soon too, so keep checking up.

Have a brazilliant Christmas all, and we will write again before New Year.

Barrier Reef

Just a quick update - only 5 mins on the internet counter left - we are currently in Noosa Heads, just north of Brisbane and have linked up with Arch & Hels. All four of us are staying in an apartment until Sunday when we head off together to Byron Bay for three days and then on to Surfers Paradise for Anne's birthday.

Since we last posted, we have done loads and loads of stuff ... we stayed in Airlie Beach and spent one day at Reefworld snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, and Anne did her first scuba dive. The next day we took a sea plane over the reef and into the Whitsunday Islands; landing on Whitehaven Beach. Loads of photos to follow.

We then moved on to Rainbow Beach and did a 4x4 day trip to Fraser Island. Continuing our animal spotting exercises ... a Dingo, and Anne got close to a sleeping python!!

Must go now, but more soon and more photos when we get a chance.

These fellas are sooo cute!

Cuddling Koala's!

Hi all,

We are now in Brisbane - arrived about 7am on Sunday; having flown overnight from Singapore.

Sleep on the plane was helped by a long visit to the Quantas Business Lounge bar before take-off (thank god for the BA Silver Card!!).

We are staying at a backpackers hostel in central Brisbane, beside Roma Street Station. We spent yesterday going to South Brisbane for breakfast .... which was a fantastic full Aussie fry-up - our first in several weeks; and then headed into central Brisbane and did some window shopping. An England Cricket shirt beckons for both of us!!

Today we got up at dawn's crack, and took the first train back to the airport to pick up our hire car for the next 2 1/2 weeks. A friend of a friend happens to work for one of the hire companies, and sorted us out with a great deal *but* she only works nights hence the early start - 5.00am!!!!!

The early start did however mean that we were first visitors to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary this morning ... and were able to cuddle some Koala's and feed the Kangaroos. Aaaaaaaahhhh ;-)

Off out tonight for a couple of shandies with Adam, as he is Brisbane working for a few days; then tomorrow we will head off up the coast. Probably stopping at Noosa / Tin Can Bay first ... and then who knows!?!

See next posts for some piccies to make you go AAAAHHHH!!

Bangkok Dragon Fight

We just happened to catch this battle of the dragons procession which is an annual ceremony in the area ... excuse the dodgy cameramanship when you need to look sideways

(Arch we are not referring to the some of the less salubrious places you visited!) I think we were quite "golded-out" by the time we had seen various Wats, Palaces and Buddhas! Just a small selection of photos ....
