Happy New Year!

Hi all

Happy New Year from sunny Sydney. We arrived from Melbourne on 29th December and are staying with Adam & Lizzie until 17th Jan, when we head off to Christchurch in NZ.

We had a fantastic New Year - starting with a water taxi from Manly across Sydney Harbour to Circular Quay in the early evening. We then spent the evening at Lenin Bar at the quay with more than a few drinks and fantastic views of the fireworks and Harbour Bridge (thanks and kudos to our hosts for organising it all). Finishing the evening with very wobbly legs and another water taxi back from the Opera House to Manly.

Lizzie & Adam have a fab house in Balgowlah nr Manly - and have been graciously entertaining us with fishing (I caught a small fish, and what appeared to be a big pair of pants!), cricket (terrible performance from England - great performance from the Barmy Army), picnic'ing, bar-b-q'ing, and seeing the northern beaches.

We have also spent some time being proper tourists in the city - taking pictures of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

In the next few days we plan to do more fishing (well me, Arch and Adam anyway), go to more beaches (including Coogee and Bondi), visit the Blue Mountains and/or the Hunter Valley, and we may even go to the 20/20 cricket match next week (if we can stand the pain!).
